Come join the Disciple II Bible Study, “Into the Word, Into the World,” a look at Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts. The study will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 -8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 8. (New participants are welcome throughout September.) This study emphasizes the rhythm of coming to God and going for God, of being in the Word and in the world individually and corporately. It will help serve as a foundation as we think of how we want East End UMC to relate to our surrounding community. Laura Rossbert, our Vanderbilt Divinity intern, will help lead the class. Questions? Call Laura at (615) 788-4928 or at LauraRossbert@gmail.com

Boy Scout Troop 3 and our congregation will celebrate 100 years of continuous service to East Nashville youth on Sunday morning, Sept. 26.  Plan to be part of this special celebration in worship and in the meal served by the scouts following the service.  If you know of scouts and leaders associated with Troop 3, or have any historical information, please share these through the church office.

The Young Adults will be gathering for fellowship and Bible reflection on Tuesday evenings beginning Sept. 21. We will meet from 6:15 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. in the fireplace classroom (sanctuary level, east end of hall. We will meet for five weeks, and enjoy a pot-luck supper while discussing the topic. We will be discussing Children and the Kingdom of God, which looks at Jesus’ interaction with children. He often placed them at the center of theological discourse about the kingdom of God. If the church is reflective of this kingdom, what can we learn about the kingdom from an examination of these texts? And what are the implications of this view of children for the life of the congregation?

Child care will be provided during this time, so if you want to come out and enjoy the company of other young adults, and get to eat a meal while doing so (child-free!), come and join us! No long-term commitment required – if you want to join us for even just one of these five evenings, come on out! Please contact Beka Baker or Heather Lefkowitz if you have any questions.

To our visitors: We welcome you and sincerely hope you experience a warm spirit of fellowship and the communion you seek with God.
