Lay Leadership
LAY LEADERSHIP AND COMMITTEES
Our committees help guide the life of East End and support the work we do together as a community.
Administrative Council
Comprised of representatives from various discipline-required committees (Trustees, SPRC, etc.), reps from other standing committees, and several at-large members. This council has regular meetings to make key decisions for the church based on recommendations from the various working committees. This is an important council due to the nature of its role in key decision-making and approval on behalf of the church at large.

Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)
Oversees relationship between the church and the pastors/staff. Supports the work of the staff, monitors all things related to staffing and staff operations. Also relates to the conference office on matters related to pastoral staffing, clergy benefits, etc. It is functionally similar to HR, but with attention to the unique nature of church work and Christian leadership.

Finance Committee
Stewardship of financial resources. Oversees finances of the church including preparing budgets, monitoring financial health of the church, and ensuring policies and procedures are in place for fiscally responsible money management.

Trustees Committee
Stewards of the property of the church. “This includes supervising and maintaining both the physical property of the congregation and gifts made to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and all legal requirements related to the property are satisfied.”

Building Committee
A special committee elected by the Charge Conference of the local church to plan and administer the building of a church should that be required. Building committee is charged with developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates, with final project approved by the Charge Conference. ¶2544 of UMC Discipline
