Reconciling Ministries

A FAITH THAT WELCOMES EVERYONE

As a Christian Community, the safety and inclusion of all is what we value most. East End UMC is a reconciling and affirming congregation, and we invite you to join us.

IT'S WHO WE ARE

We believe that Jesus' message of unconditional love means that every human being is a child of God and is worthy of love, respect, and inclusion. As a Reconciling Congregation of the UMC, we welcome and embrace people regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, race, ethnicity, age, faith history, economic status, physical and mental ability, education and housing status. We stand against discrimination and exclusion by choosing to worship and serve with all people through love, acceptance and reconciliation.

What It means To Be a Reconciling Church

The Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) is a movement with and beyond The United Methodist Church committed to LGBTQ+ inclusion and justice. It's about more than welcoming people through the doors.

It is a commitment to affirm LGBTQ+ people, build relationships across differences, create opportunities for dialogue, and work toward justice in the Church and the wider community.

What This Means at East End

Our commitment to inclusion is part of who we are. In worship, in community, and in the world. We welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and we seek to build a church where everyone belongs.

An Ongoing Commitment

Becoming a Reconciling Ministry is not simply a statement made once. It is an ongoing commitment to making inclusion visible in the life of the Church. Reconciling Ministries Network continues to work for the full participation of LGBTQ+ people throughout the life and leadership of The United Methodist Church. This work includes changing hearts, strengthening relationships, addressing harmful practices, and advocating for justice.

At East End, we believe this work belongs to the whole community. We are called to keep growing in our understanding of one another, to recognize the dignity of every person, and to put our faith into practice through love and justice.

Inclusive Worship

Every week, our worship services welcome people across identities, backgrounds, and life experiences. Inclusion isn't limited to a special service or event, it's part of how we gather and worship together.

Showing Up at Pride

East End participates in the Nashville and Franklin Pride festivals, joining the wider community in celebrating LGBTQ+ people. These gatherings may also include an ecumenical worship service bringing people of faith together.

advocating for Inclusion

When opportunities arise to stand up for LGBTQ+ inclusion and justice, East End seeks to make its voice heard. We believe our commitment to welcome includes speaking out against discrimination and supporting all of our neighbors.
